The University of Western Australia (UWA, 西澳大学) gives the UWA International Student Award as a 10% discount on tuition fees for students from 27 citizenship countries, for courses commencing in 2027. The award runs under terms F22/120 and covers the 2027–2029 funding period.
Eligibility is decided by citizenship, not by where you live or currently study. Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and every other citizenship not named below are not eligible for this award. (Those citizenships may have other UWA scholarships, but not this one.)

The list below is the complete citizenship list in the scholarship terms, grouped by region to make it easier to check.
Latin America & Caribbean (19) Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela.
South Asia (6) Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka.
East Asia (1) China.
Africa (1) Kenya.
If your citizenship is not on this list, the award does not apply to you.
The terms list China as an eligible citizenship. Whether passports from Hong Kong, Macau or Taiwan qualify is not stated in the terms — confirm with UWA admissions before relying on it.
Which courses are excluded
The 10% discount does not apply to these courses:

Beyond those named exclusions, you must apply to an eligible AQF undergraduate, combined, or postgraduate coursework course listed in the UWA Handbook. The award covers the standard full-time duration of the accepted course — not a fixed number of years regardless of program.
Visa and enrolment requirements
You must be an international student on a subclass 500 visa, or hold another visa that carries study rights. You also need:
- Full-time enrolment (exceptions exist for medical or family circumstances).
- No immediate break after discontinuing an equivalent-level course.
- Satisfactory academic progress, a maintained WAM of 60, and eligibility confirmation twice a year to keep the award.
How it is awarded and accepted
There is no separate application. UWA assesses you automatically when you apply for admission, and the award appears in your offer letter. Selection is based on academic achievement (an equivalent ATAR or WAM set by UWA). You must accept the offer within 30 days.
The award cannot be held together with other UWA tuition-fee reductions or academic scholarships, except the UWA English Language Award. If you also qualify for the Global Excellence Scholarship or another UWA award, you receive the higher-value one.
